Making Aadvantage of Opporntunity to Speed Up Construction of New Chongqing----Gongratulations on Founding of Chongqing Municipatity

1997年3月14日,八届全国人大五次会议通过了关于批准设立重庆直辖市的决定,6月18日重庆直辖市正式挂牌,作为中国第四个直辖市的新重庆从此步入新的发展时期。设立重庆直辖市,是党中央、国务院加快中西部地区经济、社会发展,缩小中西部地区差距,更好、更快地实施"三步走"的一项重大举措。以重庆的进一步开放来促进中西部的开放。

The Fifth Section of the Eight National People's Congress Passed a resolution in favour of identifying Chongqing as a municipality directly under the central Government on March 14,1997.On June 18, the signboards of the municipality were hung up,which symbolized the beginning of a new phase for new Chongqing. Founding of Chongqing Municipality is an important move taken by the Central Party Committee and the State Council to speed up construction of middle Wese China.Chongqing's further opening and reforms are to be resulted into further opening and reforms in the middle West China.Construction and dewelopment of the City of Chongqing is to bring about prosperity in the middle West China. So the establishment of Chongqing Municipality is of great econonic and political significance. It gives Chongqing valuable opportunities as well as important historical missions.
