The Old Industrial Base is to Be Vitalized

本刊记者从重庆有关政要获悉,重庆将紧紧抓住改、革这个鼻子,加快工业结构性战略调整,大力提高经济增长的质量和效益,培育新的经济增长点。

Industry is the backbone of Chongqing's economy. It is responble for increase the city's comprehensive economic strength and for ushering developnent of agriuclture and areas hear the Three Gorges. Strategic adjustment must be carried out in the industrial structure. Industry in arears near the Three gorges and in poor areas must be developed at a faster rate. A new industrial complex is to be built up in the upper reaches of the Changjiang River, which vill pave the way for the construction of a modern industrial base.
