摘要
本文针对一种流传较广的说法，论证僧格林沁弃大沽、天津到通州，不是因为贪生怕死昧于用兵，而主要是遵奉咸丰皇帝的旨意。因此，不应把京师失守的罪责完全归于僧王。
There has been a wide-spread view that Senglichin gave up Dagu and Tianjin and went to defend Tongchou because he was a coward and knew little about the art of war.The author of this paper thinks differently. It was on the order of Empero Xian Feng that he did so. Consequently he was not responsible for the fall of Beijing
