摘要
The accumulated evidence indicates that head and neck cancers arise due to multiple ge-netic changes in both dominant oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. In this report we ex-amined whether the wild-type p53 gene was able to suppress in vitro and in vivo cellulargrowth of laryngocarcinoma cell line and fihrosarcoma which carried multiple genetic abnor-malities.Introduction of retroviral mediated wild-type p53 complementary DNA into laryn-gocarcinoma cell line(Hep2)and fibrosarcoma cell line(MDAH 041)carrying either a ho-mozygous deletion or a missense in the p53 gene greatly suppressed tumor cell growth andthe malignant phenotype of the cancer cells was reversed.
