A Study on Biological Characteristics of Gordonia Acuminata

四川大头茶是我国亚热带西南地区常绿阔叶林优势树种之一,它材质好,生长快而又未被人们注意的一种优良树种。四川大头茶茎长生长春季较快,夏季缓慢,冬季几乎不再生长。展叶高峰期出现在3月底至4月初。主根分布不深,但较粗。花期8～10月,每个果实含有25～30粒种子,种子千粒重平均为149g,种子雨数量最高可达4.466×10~8粒·公顷^(-1)·年^(-1)。种子不具先天性休眠特点,落地后不久即萌发,种子萌发的最适pH为4.5～5.5。

Gordonia acuminata is one of the evergreen broad--leaved dominant species in the subtropical areas of theSouthwest China. It is a neglected fine tree species with the characteristics of good material quality and quickspeed of growth. Its stem grows fast in spring, slow in summer and hardly grows in witer. The peak seasonfor spreading out leaves is towards the end of March and at the beginning of April. Its main root does notgrow deep but rather big. Its flowering phase is between August and October. Every fruit contains 25～30seeds. The average weight of 1, 000 seeds is 14g. While the maximum huetal coefficient of the seeds can reach4. 466×10~8 particle·hectare^(-1)·year^(-1). The seeds have no innate dormant period. They sprout shortly afterfalling down to the earth. The optimal pH for seeds sprouting is 4. 5～5. 5.
