近代港澳与海外潮人对潮汕教育事业做出很大贡献，他们在家乡兴学育才，传播新思想、新文化，为近代潮汕培养了一大批人才，奠定了潮汕教育事业的基础。本文旨在通过对港澳和海外潮人对潮汕教育事业的贡献及其历史源流进行较全面的探讨，为加快新时期潮汕教育事业的发展提供历史借鉴。

Important contributions were made by overseas and Hong Kong and Macao Chaozhoulese to modern educational development in Shantou Chaozhou District. They initiated schools at their hometowns, propagated new ideas and new knowledge there, and trained a number of useful personnel for modern Shantou Chaozhou District, thereby laying the foundation for the further development of education in the district. This paper, through an investigation of contributions made by overseas and Hong Kong and Macao Chaozhoulese to modern educational development in Shantou Chaozhou District, attempts to furnish some historical experiences for acceleration of the educational development in Shantou Chaozhou District in the new period.
