四川省石油管理局川西北矿区是以天然气勘探开发、化工生产为主,后勤配套生产为辅的国家二级企业。该矿区技术力量雄厚,70年代即成功地打出了我国第一口7176米的超深井;80年代又多次在吉林、胜利、新疆等油田刷新了深井钻井纪录;90年代赴泰国钻探,声誉卓著。现在,该矿区能年产纯度为99.98％的硫磺3万吨,远销国内外;年产液化气5000多吨,同时向市场提供优质丁烷气、硫氢化钠、工业硫脲、高级复合硅酸盐保温材料。
