隆昌具有优越的交通条件:成渝铁路、公路、高速公路横贯县境;在建的隆黄铁路将连接云南、贵州;改建的川云东路、隆邓公路已上国家等级;通往乡镇、厂矿的公路已发展到近100条;隆纳高等级公路及打通周边县进出口的5条乡镇公路正动工兴建。铁路、公路交织成网,四通八达,使隆昌成为川南的交通枢纽。隆昌县交通局为了实施县委、县府“构建中等市,营造卫星城,推进大开放”的战略,建养并重,一方面改善干道公路。
