Multi-wavelength pyrometry has been used to measure the true temperature of a surface whose emissivity is unknown or varies with wavelength by overdetermining the solution with extra wavelengths by the least squares method. We use the Wien approximation and model the logarithm of the emissivity as a linear function of wavelength. The present paper examines the magnitude of systematic errors arising from the use of the Wein approximation and that of the random errors by using the Monte-Carlo method.
