Influnce of predeformation on shape memory effect (SME) is examined in a Fe-25.38Mn-3.47Si-2.98Ni alloy. It shows that SME is depressed drastically by predeformation (strain, 15%) at temperatures from RT to 673K, but the SME can be greatly improved by an following annealing treatment at about 900K. A complete SME has been obtained under a combining treatment of 2.4% predeformation at 523K+annealing around 900K.
