摘要
培养学生的英语阅读能力,必须首先明确阅读的性质和培养学生英语阅读能力的可能方式。阅读是以意义为中心的一种行为,是一种有目的的创造意义的过程。它要求读者动用"自下而上"(bottom-up)和"自上而下"(top-dowu)的言语处理方式与作者/读物展开积极的交流。换言之,阅读行为的中心是意义,而不是言语形式,学习阅读的中心也是如此。同时,就如何实施英语阅读教学提出了几点看法。
The development of students'competence to read in English requires in the first place the clarification of the nature of reading,on the one band. and of the potential ways to attain the desired goal, on the other hand. Based on a review of the literature on reading, this paper indicates that reading is a meaning-focused activity. It is a purposeful meanting constructing process which requires the reader,s active interaction with the writer/text and his use of top-down as well as bottom-up processing. In other words, it is meaning rather than form which constitutes the focus of reading and thus the focus of teaching students to read. Some implications for the teaching of English reading are also given in this paper.
