近两年,革命老区巴中的公路交通建设发展很快,以质量高、速度快、费用低而闻名四川全省。作为贫困落后山区,巴中是怎样确保公路交通建设快速发展的呢?记者怀着浓厚的兴趣,采访了巴中地区交通局。年仅38岁的地区交通局局长鲜雄介绍说,巴中公路交通建设得到了地委行署的高度重视和全区人民的积极支持。1993年地区成立以来,地委行署就把交通建设列为经济发展的战略重点,提出了“三年打基础,五年上台阶,十年迈大步”的总体要求。交通局随之制定了“改善主动脉,强化主枢纽,健全主骨架,完善大网络”的发展战略和交通建设十年总体规划。为确保总体目标的实现,全区范围内开展了一场空前的“交通先行”的宣传活动,做到政策措施家喻户晓,并发动干部群众集资投劳,以解决资金不足的问题。

A grand total of over 2 hundred million yuan was invested into developing a new transportation infrastructure between October 1993 to the end of April in 1995. 350 kilometers of road construction have been completed.
