THE ROLE OF HEALTH EDUCATION IN PROVISION BASIC HEALTH CARE FOR PEASANTS

贫困农村地区的特点之一是文化落后,农民医疗卫生知识缺乏,自我保健及健康投资意识薄弱。改善贫困农村医疗保健服务,除了增加卫生投人,提高卫生管理水平,提高医疗保健服务效率外,更重要的是要重视健康教育,提高农民医学卫生知识,增强农民自我保健与健康投资意识。农村健康教育要与卫生改革协调,做到组织落实,讲求实效。

One of the characteristics of the health situation in poor rural China is that the peasants lack of health knowledge and consciousness of self-care. It is much more important in improvement of the health services in poor rural area to put emphasis upon health education. besides some important aspects of rural health work, such as increasing the expenditure on health sector, improving the level of health management, and raising the efficiency of health services. In rural area?the health education must be consistent with the health sector reform. The issue of how to organize and implement effectively should be adequately addressed.
