The structure of a new triterpenoid, named gonolactone A, isolated from the fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum,was determined by spectroscopic methods. This compound was identified as 7 beta -hydroxy-3. 11,15-trioxo-lanosta-8-en-24 --> 20 lactone.
