Abstract This poper outlines seven environmental problems in China, to which priority consideration should be given. In point or POllution develOPing trend, the mest serious problems are; sa POllution in air, oceanic substance POllution in water and hazardous solid waste POllution. At thd end of this century, the environmental objective is tO bring environmental POllution Under control fUndamentally. It should be realized, although there are a lot of difficulties. Some of the main measures in realizing this Objective are COmprehensive decision-making, strict enforcement of environmental laws, public pal'ticipation and necessary investment. It is necessary to change the traditional idea and develOPment model, and rely on the progress of scientific technology in selection of sustainable developerment way in 21 century.
