在春和日丽的时节,我们在中国西部古城成都访问了四川省丝绸公司总经理吴继生。吴总是个忙人,谈话只能单刀直人。短短一席谈,使我们对四川丝绸的昨天、今天和明天都有了一个大致的轮廊和了解。
General Manager Wu Ji-Sheng has many years of experience in silk trade. He said,“The silk industry is one of the main industries in Sichuan Province.It also occupies a superior position in Sichuan’s traditional industries.From ancient times to the present,Sichuan silk has served as an important link between the Oriental and Occidental cultures”. In 1992,Sichuan Province boasted an output of 186 thousand tons of silkworm cocoons and 16.7 thousand tons of silk,which respectively accounted for one-third of the total national output and one-fifth of the world total output. From 1986 to 1992,the company’s total earnings were (?)1.5 billion and the total profits tax was ￥500 million.General Manager Wu said,“The Sichuan silk still has a great potential to be tapped.We sincerely look forward to further deve- lopment and co-operation with friends at home and abroad on the basis of mutual benefits”.
