摘要
十余年前,当我刚接触扬州唐代城址考古的时候,纪仲庆先生曾向我述及考古学家宿白先生对扬州唐城考古工作的意见,指出搞清楚扬州城的水道,是探索扬州唐城的关键。宿先生这个指导性意见,使我在后来的唐城考古工作中深受其惠,随着唐城考古工作的全面开展和不断深入,一些重要遗址遗物的发现和发掘,愈发表明运河对唐代扬州城市建设影响之重大。
