Policy and Research on Environment by World Bank

环境和发展之间相互作用的政策研究工作,在世界银行内(以下简称“世行”)并非仅仅是环境局的责任。本着一体化精神,世行内部对这项研究工作的关注日益增长。政策研究主要由一位负责政策、研究和外部事务(PRE)的高级副总裁领导的办公室承担,但是在日常经营业务部门和财务部门工作的人员也部分承担这项工作。

World Bank shows increasing concern over the policy and research on the interaction between environment and development.In respect of the destruction of natural environment,some of the issues that have been addressed include threats to biodiversity and indigenous peoples,effects of human settlements on natural habitats,deforestation and dam construction.In respect of the land degradation,the aim of World Bank's task is to improve understanding of the extent,causes and economic consequences of soil erosion and desertification in order to improve agricultural and land management projects and policies.The policy and research on environ- ment done by World Bank also include the following:degradation and depletion of fresh water resources,urban, industrial and agricultural pollution,degradation of the“global commons”and other cross—cutting issues.
