Based on the features in physical geography, social and economic aspects and land and water resources, the author discusses the necessity and feasibility of building well irrigation projects, analyzes the water quota for sugarcane from well irrigation, the balance between supply and need of groundwater and also economic benefits of well irrigation projects. The author gives an introduction to the preparatory work, problems arising in the planning and design of well irrigtion project, the construction management and the raising of funds for construction.
