This paper deals with the false shear problem encountered in formulating solid-of-revolntion element with axisymmetric cross section.A technique for suppressing false shear in hybrid stress and hybrid/mixed elements is proposed.Numerical studies indicate,element that satisfies the conditions proposed in the paper is capable of effectively alleviating the false shear phenomenon.
