Essentiality and Feasibility of Root Teaching Method in College English Teaching

本文简要回顾了英语词汇的发展历史,对以外来语词根为词干构成的英语词汇在现代英语中的使用频率进行了统计分析,指出该类词汇在现代英语中的重要作用。在此基础上论证了词根教学法在大学英语教学中的必要性和可行性。

In this paper the development of English vocabulary is briefly reviewed, and the fre-quency of the use, in modern English, of those words based on roots borrowed from other languages isfigured out and analysed. Thus, the important role of such words in modern English is pointed out, andthe essentiahty and feasibility of the root teaching method in college English teaching is validated.
