When the rebel army of Elute Mongolia captured Lhasa in 1717, the Qing emperor Kangxi sent his fourteenth son Yun Ti to command troops going westward on the punitive expedition. In order to select the true Dalai Lama VI, Yun Ti, on his way to Lasa, built a closer relation with the young Hubilehan who was deeply supported by the nobility of Qinghai Mongolia. This created a favourable condition in political thought for that the Qing army might smoothly marched into Tibet to put down the rebellion.
