铁保,乾隆朝进士,因文才过人受器重恩眷,一生三任督抚,尽心公务,卓有成效。唯不善用人,轻信草率,屡次失察。观其一生之起落,可见为官为人之大不同。

Tie Bao was awarded the Jinshi degree in the reign of Qianlong. The emperor thought highly of Tie's literary talent and bestowed his good graces on him. Tie Bao was appointed to the Viceroy and Inspector-general three times. During his tenure of office. he did public affairs with all his heart and all his might, and good results had be attained, Only because he didn't know how to choose the right persons for the right jobs, and was neglectful of his duty of supervision many times. with the result that he made a great mistake and was sent into exile. The rise and fall of all his life tells us that acting as a high official and being a common people are two entirely different things.
