Electrochemical reactions are compared with thermal chemical reactions in this paper. The characteristics and advantages of organic electrochemical reactions are expounded and some examples introducing the application of organic electrochemistry to organic syntheses are given. Organic electrochemical syntheses will become an essential technique of organic synthesis.
