It is an urgent requirement for students to cultivate their innovative abilities in the 21st century in English teaching. This paper analyzed the methods of developing students` innovative ability. That is: paying attention to the emotion and the students ' interest; stimulating students ' creative thinking; creating a favorable innovation environment; developing innovation consciousness; starting practice activities and improving students ' innovation ability.
