This paper discusses the concept of communicative competence and the influence it gives the foreign teaching .As an example ,New College English puts a great emphasis on improving communicative competence in terms of listening , speaking, reading and writing. This paper is intended to demonstrate the important role that New College English plays in stimulating the communicative enthusiasm and improving the communicative competence of students.
