中国现代化发展第一次机遇丧失原因探讨

On the Reasons of the Loss of the First Opportunity of China Modernization Development

1840—1895年,在多种因素影响下,中国现代化发展出现了一次重要的机遇,但这一机遇又很快丧失。本文系统分析了这一机遇丧失的原因,认为上层缺乏一个强有力的现代化政权的领导,下层缺乏一个强大的现代化的民间推动力量,而少数觉醒的知识分子难以承担历史赋予的双重使命,这就无法形成一个推进现代化发展的合力。

During the period of 1840-1895,under the influence of various factors,there was an important opportunity for China's to realize its modernization,but it was lost soon after.This paper systematically analyzes the reasons of the loss of this opportunity and comes to a conclusion that there was not a powerful modern government in the upper society and a powerful driving force among the ordinary people in that period.Only a few awakened intellectuals could not undertake the dual missions given by the history.Therefore it could not form a joint force to impel the development of its modernization.
