格莱斯的会话合作原则及其四准则是人类口语交际中双方都应遵守的原则,不仅适用于人类口语交际,也适合翻译。动物习语的翻译作为人类有目的的、合理的社会行为之一,可被看作一种特殊方式的"会话",所以在这个过程中也应当遵守会话合作原则。本文讨论了格莱斯会话合作原则在动物习语翻译中的运用和体现。

Grice's Cooperative Principle and the four maxims are the principles which both sides should follow in a conversation.They are not only applicable in oral communication,but also in translation.The translation of animal idioms,as one of human's purposeful and reasonable social activities,can be considered as a special kind of'conversation', accordingly in this process,so should the Cooperative Principle of translational'conversation'be followed. This paper discusses the Cooperative Principle applied in the animal idioms translation.
