Discussing Ruanyuan’s Achievements in his Performance and Academic Research

阮元是嘉道时期一位无论在政绩还是在学术上都取得了很大成就的人物。他为官清廉,兴利除弊,赈灾济贫,安定地方,抵御外侮,堪称一代封疆能臣。他为学力主实事求是,继承了由文字训诂以求义理的考据学风,兴学立教,培养人才,是乾嘉学派后期的一位颇有影响的朴学大师。他注重整理文化典籍,进呈四库遗书,撰写,可以说是纪昀以后的第二人。

Ruanyuan was a prominent person in his performance and academic research in Jiadao period.He could be called a capable border minister because of incorruptibility,trying for benefits and eliminating disadvantages for people,relieving the people in disaster and poverty,making the local stability,resisting aggression.He was practical and realistic in studing,and inherited the style of study of the textual research which seek meaning after critical text.He built schools,sustained education,brought up persons with ability,and become an influential master of pu-hsueh in the evening of Qianjia school.He paid attention to coordinating classical culture books,add the missing books of imperial collection of four,writing summary.Because of these achievements,he could be called the second person after Jiyun.
