Virginia Woolf played a significant role in shaping the artistic reform of British fiction in the 20th century. Her highly original stream of consciousness fiction, whether in its degree of innovation or in its result of experiment, tremendously broadened the horizon of her contemporary novelists and critics. This paper is intended to explore Woolf's creative spirit during the time when conventional fiction was in crisis, discuss the subversion and reconstruction of time and space, structure and character in her three major stream of consciousness novels, and demonstrate the catalytic impact of her creative spirit on the epochal change of fictional art.
