The New Criticism and Critical Theories Today

本文回顾了新批评理论介绍进入中国后30年的历史,也回顾了形式文论,尤其是符号学与叙述学在中国艰难的进展,并且列举了中国青年理论家对新批评理论的吸收以及在批评实践中对该理论的发扬光大。本文指出,无论是新批评,还是整个形式文论潮流,都对当代文论的发展作出了重要贡献,起的作用不可忽视。在今日各派理论竞争的局面中,形式文论更必须发挥"现代批判理论四大支柱"之一的作用。

This paper provides a retrospective survey on how the New Criticism was first systematically introduced into China about 30 years ago,and how formalism in general and semiotics and narratology in particular,have been traveling on a rocky path since then in China.It praises the brilliant efforts made by Chinese young scholars in adopting and applying the principles of the New Criticism in their critical practice.The paper points out that the contributions made by the New Criticism and other schools of formalism can never be neglected.In today's competition of all kinds of theoretical doctrines,formalism has to play an important role since it has been one of the four pillars of modern critical theories.
