摘要
19世纪末英国唯美主义的代表作家奥斯卡·王尔德一生中著有多部杰出剧作,并在20世纪头30年和80年代以后在中国分别掀起了两次译介高潮,但在1949—1966这17年间却没有任何一部剧作被译入中国。本文从这17年间的社会背景和翻译指导方针出发,深入剖析了王尔德剧作在此期间"缺席"的具体原因。
Oscar Wilde,a representative of Aestheticism in the late 19^(th) century in Britain,created many outstanding plays during his life,and China has witnessed two climaxes of the translation of his plays in 1910s-1930s and 1980s-present respectively.However,Wilde had none of its plays translated into Chinese during the'Seventeen-Year Period(1949-1966)',which is a very thought-provoking phenomenon.Starting from the social background and the guiding principles of translation then,the paper analyzes in depth the reasons that account for his'absence'during this period.
