在20世纪美国文学史上,赛珍珠及其作品没有受到多少关注。始于世纪之交,由于中外文化交流事业的发展,也由于全球化时代的到来,中美两国开始重温赛珍珠。今天,我们研究《大地》,是因为该小说自身具有经典的本质性特征。本文旨在通过文本分析,认为《大地》具有内涵的丰富性、理念的创新性、主题的普世性和审美的创造性。

Pearl S.Buck never received adequate academic attention from American literary historians in the twentieth century although she is Nobel Prize winner for literature in 1938.At the turn of the century,she and her works,The Good Earth in particular,were once more widely read both in China and in the United States due to the strengthening of the Sino-American cultural exchange and the advent of globalization.The present essay attempts to make a study of the novel with its rich content,,its original conception,its thematic universality and aesthetic features as the focus.
