Objective: To investigate the variations of P50 auditory sensory gating (P50) in normal healthy adults and schizophrenics, and the relationship to the clinical symptoms. Methods:The study involved 58 medication-nve schizophrenia patients (SCh) and 108 normal controls (NC). P50 was measured by using the conditioning/testing paradigm presented with auditory double clicks stimuli. And the symptoms were assessed with the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). Results: ( 1 ) In normal controls, the differences in peak latencies at Cz, Fz, and Pz sites between S1-PS0 and S2-P50 were not significant, while the amplitudes of S1-P50 at Cz, Fz, and Pz sites were significantly higher than that of S2-P50 (P< 0.01 ).
