China Road and the "Next Step in Human Development"

持续三十多年的改革开放及经济发展,极大地改变着中国的经济面貌,也改变着中国在世界经济中的地位。在可预见的未来,中国成为世界级大国绝非遥不可及。但由于成长于全球化时代,中国的成长必然经历普通国家难以想象的困扰,中国与世界将形成更为紧密的"利益共同体"。因此,这就要求我们要以一种平等、公正的角色更多地参与重大国际与地区事务,并发挥独特的、善意的、具有建设性的作用,承担起相应的国际义务与责任。

The 30 years of reform and opening up and economic development have greatly improved the economic landscape of China. Meanwhile, they have also elevated China's position in the world economy. In the foreseeable future, China is very likely to become a world power. Starting off in the era of globalization, China's growth will inevitably go through problems that seem unimaginable to other states. China and the world will become a closer 'community of interests'. Therefore, this requires China to participate more in major international and regional affairs in an equal and fair manner; play a unique, goodwill and constructive role; and assume corresponding international duties and responsibilities.
