1942年11月至1943年6月,宋美龄出访美国,与美国政要进行多次会谈以获取美国援助和商讨共同对日作战等问题,而宋美龄在美国面向公众的宣传活动,对改善中国形象和中美关系也起到了特殊的作用。宋美龄在美期间,频繁向蒋介石汇报和商讨相关事宜,蒋介石通过电报指示宋美龄在美各项活动,如反攻缅甸,对美之立场、国会演讲内容、及访英问题等,成为宋美龄访美的坚强后盾,而宋美龄在战时政治氛围下也逐渐成长为女政治家。

From November 1942 to June 1943,Song Mei-ling visit the United States,talking with the United States political leaders for several times to strive for the United States assistance to Chinese and discuss cooperation on fighting against Japan,Soong Mei-ling's promotional activities for the general public in United States,improved China's image and also played a special role in Sino-US relations.During the visit to the United States,Soong Mei-ling frequently reported to the Chiang Kai-shek,asking and discussing some political matters.Chiang Kai-shek Indicated Soong Mei-ling's political matters by the telegraph,such as counterattacking Myanmar,the position and attitude toward the United States,the Congress presentation details,and Visiting United Kingdom etc.Chiang Kai-shek backed Soong Mei-Ling during her visit to the United States and Soong Mei-ling has gradually grown to women politicians in the Wartime political atmosphere.
