《小说月报》(1910—1931)是跨越中国近现代、持续时间最久、影响最大的文学期刊。《小说月报》不仅是文学文本的展示平台,还是一个由出版社、编辑与读者市场共同运作下的文化商品。在《小说月报》精美的装帧与丰富的内容背后,是一个庞大的出版集团和一系列的市场化运作机制。出版者的经营理念、编辑者的立场与风格、发行网络的规模、读者市场的定位等非文学性因素,在很大程度上决定着文学期刊的面貌。《小说月报》的22年发展历程正是多种因素共同作用的结果。
Novel Monthly(1910—1931)was a literary journal that crossed Chinese modern history and had the longest duration and the biggest impacts.Novel Monthly was not only a display platform of literary texts,but also a cultural commodity operated by publishing houses,editors and the reader market.There was a huge publishing group and a series of market-oriented operations under the fancy bookbinding and rich contents.Literary journals as a medium of communication are the specific physical state of existence condenses spiritual contents with physical materials.Non-literary factors,such as publishers' management ideas,the scale of distribution network,editors' stances and the orientation of reader market,largely determine the face of literary journals.The 22years development process of Novel Monthlyis the result of many factors.
