The Theory of Evolutionism and Its Influence on Hemingway’s Male Body Concept

Hemingway’s construction of Coder Hero has attracted criticism of scholars,but his body concept,which shapes the characters in his writing,is ignored.This thesis conducted a careful analysis of his text under the social context of the beginning of 20th century and conclused that the essence of the Code Hero is the pursuit of physical strength,for Hemingway is greatly influenced by Darwinism.This showed the writer’s anxiety for human beings’masculinity and the alienation of capital civilization.
