林逋的谥号是官谥而不是私谥,林逋的道德影响和巨大成就完全有资格得到官谥,感念知遇之恩的州守也会为林逋请谥,得知林逋去世而嗟悼的皇帝也肯定会赐谥。给林逋赐谥的是宋仁宗,活着的林逋不可能得到宋真宗的赐谥,当林逋去世时早已不在人间的宋真宗不可能给林逋赐谥,而只能是在位的宋仁宗。林逋的谥号是和靖先生,而不是和靖处士或和靖居士。和靖处士是宋真宗给活着的林逋的赐号。
