孙中山先生故乡发现稀世“三蒂莲”

The Rare ‘Triplet Flower Lotus' Found in Sun Yat-Sen's Hometown

荷花中偶而出现并蒂莲,已十分稀罕,古人以为这是吉祥如意、人寿年丰的预兆,但从未见文献记载"三蒂莲"。2010年有人在黑龙江大庆市附近首次在野荷中发现"三蒂莲"(图1、图2),2013年又在伟人孙中山先生故乡的‘中山莲’湖塘中第二次发现"三蒂莲"。并蒂和三蒂现象都不能遗传,"三蒂莲"偶发机率比"并蒂莲"更小。当今处于生物技术高度发达的年代,完全有可能人工培育出"并蒂莲"、"三蒂莲"品种。也有人主张听任偶然出现,更能增添神秘感、观赏性。建议中山市有关方面对该塘的水质、土壤进行测试,可否找出出现三蒂莲的外界因素。

The natural frequency of ‘twin flower lotus' is very rare that its appearance was always considered as a propitious symbol in the eyes of ancient Chinese people.There is no doubt that the frequency of ‘triplet flower lotus' is even less than that of ‘twin flower lotus'.Therefore,there was no ‘triplet flower lotus' recorded in the ancient documents.Only recently,‘triplet flower lotus' was found in the area near Daqing,Heilongjiang in 2010,and in Sun Yat-sen's hometown in 2013.Both ‘twin flower lotus' and ‘triplet flower lotus' are not heritable.However,thanks to the development of technology,the related new cultivars are mostly likely to be achieved successfully.Also,some people insist that we should do nothing about it to keep their low frequency and mystery.We suggest that the water and soil of the pond from which the ‘triplet flower lotus' was found should be tested in order to uncover the possible environmental factors.
