Because of its beautiful appearance and quality,Mei flower is popular with the Chinese nation since ancient times, and are widely used in the classical gardens. Generally,Mei flower takes the form of Mei woods and Mei garden to reveal the imperial atmosphere in the royal gardens; however,in private gardens, solitary, pair or group planting is given priority to choose because of limited space. Besides,Mei flowers are also arranged with different scenery to construct abundant landscape and artistic conception. Ancient Mei flowers are well protected in temple gardens due to the special status of the temples, which in turn added dignified sense of holiness for the old temples. The scenic garden landscape of Mei flowers makes its landscape more rich and colorful by combining the above-mentioned three planting ways. The tradition planting of Mei flowers can provide the basis for the construction of contemporary Mei flower garden landscape; however, due to the changes in scenery subjects and aesthetic taste, specialized gardens and theme parks are primary forms of modern Mei flower landscape. Such landscape design requires simplicity and ardency,so that it can accord with contemporary aesthetic standards.
