侗族大歌的内容与形式不仅与侗族的社会发展、社会习俗和人们的审美意识有关,与当地的自然环境也有密切的关系,这是侗族文化的传承与发展的承载体。无论从功能方面还是作用方面侗族大歌都是流行音乐代替不了的。所以保护和传承侗族大歌对西部民族文化的发展意义重大。
