摘要
在心性工夫之学中,审美决不是"在外在对象之姿态万千与色彩缤纷中寻求好奇心的满足",而是"与绝对的‘一’作存在的呼应,既而纯化自家生命,照亮乾坤、朗澈世界"。这样,审美就是一种内在的存养工夫。这种存养工夫的结果,其精神色泽必是素朴恬淡的。在此工夫中必然居有天、地、神、人共处于一物的圣域,这便是艺术的意境。故艺术不必抒情,不必叙事,亦不必说理,只须居有物"自身"。
In the science of mind kungfu, aesthetics is never “to seek the satisfaction of curiosity within the magnificence and colorfulness of external objects”, but “to echo with the absolute ‘One’ in existence, and then to purify one’s own life, and to illuminate and clarify the universe”. In this way, aesthetics is akind ofinherent kungfu of self-cultivation. This kungfu of self-cultivation gets the result that itsspiritual luster would be simple and tranquil, in which the Heaven, the Earth, God and human beings all get together. This is the artistic conception. Therefore, art is not necessary to express emotion or to narrate, or even to argue, and the only thing it may do is to have things in themselves.
