This paper analyses and compares geographic conditions monitoring and basic surveying and mapping in terms of concept,effect,technical standards and outcomes.The characteristics and importance of geographic conditions monitoring are explained.Comparisons are also made between geographic conditions monitoring,geospatial framework for digital cities and geomaticsindustry.Some suggestions and expectations are given regarding geographic conditions monitoring.
