As a marked theme in thematic structure, experiential enhanced theme plays an important role in communications. In traditional grammar, it's termed as cleft sentence for being divided into twoclauses with a predicator respectively. It is through the adjusted focus that expresses the addressor's intention of communication.This paper explores the semantic and pragmatic functions of the enhanced theme, including four parts, that is, introduction, semantic structure,pragmatic functions and conclusion.
