摘要 隐喻不仅是一种普遍存在的语言现象,也是人类思维和认知世界的方式。这种抽象认知能力在汽车专业英语词汇的教与学中不可或缺。本文拟从隐喻认知与语言、汽车专业英语词汇的关系及汽车专业英语词汇本身的隐喻性两方面阐述隐喻认知理论在汽车专业英语词汇教学中的重要性,以期促进教学并提高学生的词汇习得能力。 Metaphor is not only a language phenomenon but also a way of thinking and cognition. It plays an indispensable role in the vocabulary teaching of Professional English for Automobile. The present paper demonstrated the importance of the application of this theory to vocabulary teaching of Professional English for Automobile, which was based on the analyses of the relationship among metaphor, language and vocabulary of Professional English for Automobile, and the metaphorical property of vocabulary. Then the students' metaphor cognitive ability would be cultivated to facilitate teaching and enhance their vocabulary acquisition.
