在英语辩论教学中实践全人教育理念

On Practicing Holistic Education in the Teaching of English Debate

摘要 全人教育主要关注的是"完的人",注重人与自然、人与人、人与社会的和谐发展。现代"全人"素质构建应该是全方位、多层次的,对道德、知识、能力、素养各方面都有较高要求。英语辩论课程的教学内容丰富,能满足现代"全人"对知识的要求;教学过程及方法能很好的培养学生的自学能力、创新能力、交际能力、获取信息的能力等,从而满足现代"全人"对能力的要求;辩论课程教学评估能提升学生的思想道德素质、文化素质、业务素质和身心素质。因此英语辩论教学是很好的实践全人教育理念的方式。 Holistic education focuses on the training of 'whole man'. It is based on the premise that each person finds identity, meaning, and purpose in life through connections to the community, to the natural world, to other human beings and to the society. Modern society expects an alldimensional and multi-layered quality construction from the 'whole man' concerning with a wide-range mastery of knowledge, good acquisition of self-learning ability, innovative ability and communicative competence. English debating course is believed to be able to achieve the goal of holistic education for the following three reasons: first, the coverage of knowledge in this course is wide and current;second, the process of debating and practice can help promoting students self-learning ability, innovative ability and communicative competence. The after-course evaluation can help students reflect on their performance and therefore help promoting their sense of responsibility to the society, their value system, the aesthetic perspective and etc. Based on the experimental teaching of English debate for two years, this paper concludes that English debating course is an effective practice of holistic education and should be spread and extended to a wider context.
