Ancient Rome in Mantua From Alberti's Sant' Andrea to Rossi's Proposal in the Competition for Fiera Catena

This paper introduces two designs in Mantua with an interval of 500 years:Sant's Andrea by Alberti and the proposal for Fiera Catena Rossi,respectively.Though two totally different styles,i.e.the early Renaissance style and the modernism style,both responded to the ancient Roman spirit of the city.The peculiarities of the city and the subtle relationship between Italian architects can be better understood through a comparison of the two designs.
