The Spatial Language of the Illustrations in the Novels of Ming Dynasty

摘要 以明代小说插画为研究对象,探讨其主导性的空间语言,指出其为叙事服务的目的之下,采用独特的视角选择来组织画面,以多样的视觉构造法来交代情节,并通过最基本的平行视觉逻辑框架来组织情节-空间单元,使画中物象保持完整,画面不悖常识,完整可读;进而探讨中国古代图绘中所谓"散点透视"的具体含义,指出其核心在于提供一种代入式的漫游经验,使图绘呈现出"叙事图解"的文本性特征,其所采用的绘画语言,对理解传统空间观念有所启示。 This paper studies the illustrations in the novels of Ming dynasty to identify a dominating spatial language.It maintains that the composition of the illustrations is defined by unique angles of view adopting various techniques for plot structures that serve narration.Objects and images of the illustrations are kept intact,logic and legible through spatial units as the most fundamental paralleling visual framework.The paper also investigates the implications of the so-called ' cavalier perspective' used in traditional Chinese drawings,advocating that the core value of cavalier perspective consists in a sense of substitution of wandering experience that makes the textual characters of the illustrations stand out.The language used in the illustrations contributes to a better understanding of traditional spatial conceptions.
