A Brief Contrastive Analysis on English and Chinese Progressive Aspect

文章将进行体作为英、汉语中一个共有的语义范畴,考察英语进行体的主要表达方式BE+VP-ing结构和汉语进行体的主要表达方式"在/正在/正+VP"结构在语义、与进行体兼容的动词以及语用功能方面的异同。通过分析认为汉语进行体是客观情状的一种体现,英语进行体是说话者主观意图的一种体现,这是造成上述差异的主要原因。

The paper discusses the differences and similarities in semantic meaning,verbs and pragmatic functions between the English BE+VP-ing construction and the Chinese 在/正在/正+VP construction as the respective predominant progressive forms in the two languages.By analysis we think Chinese progressive aspect indicates the historical situation,as the English aspect indicates the experimental situation,which results in the differences between the two aspests.
